Asthalin Respule is indicated for the treatment and alleviation of brochospasm symptoms, a condition characterized by the narrowing of small airways in the lungs or bronchioles, commonly seen in reversible obstructive diseases such as asthma, chronic bronchitis, and emphysema.
Asthalin Respules are utilized to ease breathing challenges resulting from brochospasm, which may manifest as wheezing, difficulty breathing, and chest tightness. Additionally, Asthalin Respule can help prevent bronchospasm induced by exercise, a specific kind of asthma triggered solely by physical activity, as well as allergy-induced asthma in response to known allergens like pollen or cat dander. It is classified as a "reliever" Respule due to its rapid onset (within 5 minutes), although it is short-acting and serves as a rescue medication for asthma attacks or to prevent them. However, Asthalin Respule does not cure asthma, and patients will likely need to take a regular "preventer" medication, such as an inhaled corticosteroid.
Asthalin Respule contains Salbutamol, a beta 2-agonist and bronchodilator that directly affects the small airways of the lungs (bronchioles). The contraction of the smooth muscle surrounding these bronchiole tubes can lead to airway narrowing in response to asthma triggers. Salbutamol within Asthalin Respules attaches to beta 2 receptors on the smooth muscle, leading to muscle relaxation and airway dilation (bronchodilation). This alleviates bronchospasm (the contraction of airways) and opens up the airways, facilitating easier breathing and relieving symptoms of asthma such as chest tightness, wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath. Salbutamol in Asthalin Respule acts quickly as a bronchodilator but has a short duration of action, lasting 4-6 hours and is delivered to the lungs as an aerosol with each puff.
Possible side effects of taking Asthalin Respule include headache, tremors, and tachycardia (rapid heartbeat); less common side effects may include palpitations, irritation of the mouth and throat, and muscle cramps.
